More than MVR nine million has been received in Zakat Al-Fitr payments.

This was revealed by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs on Tuesday.

Speaking to RaajjeMV, an official at the ministry revealed that by April 8, the ministry had collected more than MVR nine million in Zakat payments, through its online platforms.

A total of MVR 9,279,383 was received in Zakat Al-Fitr payments.

The ministry began distributing Zakat Al-Fitr in grain, on Monday.

Maldives Zakat House revealed that the distribution of Zakat Al-Fitr in grains would take place at the hall of Aminiya School through Tuesday.

Distribution of Zakat Al-Fitr in grain took place from 11am to 4pm and 8:30pm to 10:30pm on Monday.

Zakat Al-Fitr will be distributed at Aminiya School from 8:30pm to 10:30pm on Tuesday as well.

The deadline to make Zakat Al-Fitr payments on Bandeyri Pay is set at 6pm, on the last day of Ramadan 1445.

Staple food will be accepted as Zakat Al-Fitr before 6pm, the last day of the fasting month.

In April 2023, the Islamic ministry revealed that they had received MVR nine million as Zakat Al-Fitr that year. A total of 175,485 people paid zakat during Ramadan 1444.
