Discussions have been held on opportunities for collaboration between the governments of Maldives and Australia, regarding challenges faced by climate vulnerable Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

The discussions were held during a courtesy call Australia’s Ambassador for Climate Change, Kristin Tilley paid on Minister of Foreign Affairs, Moosa Zameer on Sunday.

The meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This includes the shift to 33 percent renewable energy and the plan to plant five million trees across the Maldives.

FM Zameer shed light on the significance of jointly addressing the challenges faced by SIDS currently in accessing climate financing through international financial institutions.
