A man who was arrested for threatening and mugging a teenager has been remanded.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) arrested a 41-year-old Maldivian man in connection with the case.

The man is accused of theft.

The suspect was remanded by the Criminal Court for 15 days.

His remand period is set to expire on 30 March 2024.

The court order reads that the man is accused of stealing a mobile phone from a 17-year-old teenager, after threatening the teen with a sharp weapon.

The court order goes on to read that sufficient evidence has been produced to prove the accusations against the man.
