Large stash of alcohol destroyed in Lh. Naifaru

A large stash of alcohol in police custody which was confiscated during multiple operations, has been destroyed in Naifaru island of Lhaviyani atoll.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the alcohol was destroyed on March 7.

Destroyed in Naifaru island were 202 bottles of alcohol and 77 cans of beer.

MPS revealed that the destroyed alcohol and beers were handed over to them by officers of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) at Lhaviyani atoll Madivaru Domestic Airport.

MNDF officers at Madivaru Domestic Airport confiscated the bottles of alcohol and cans of beer from tourists that arrived at the airport for departure, between June 2022 to February 2024.

The alcohol was destroyed under the supervision of the relevant police committee and under the set legal procedure for it.
