President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has met council members of Villingili island of Gaaf Alif atoll, North Huvadhu Atoll and Women's Development Committees (WDCs).
The meeting was held on Thursday, as part of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s tour of some islands in the south of Maldives which he began on Sunday morning.
During the meeting, Villingili councilors shed light on the need to swiftly complete the island’s harbor project and the need for an uninhabited island under their jurisdiction.
Discussions also revolved around the expansion of atoll hospital services and speeding up construction of new buildings.
President Muizzu was also briefed on concerns regarding delays in the construction of housing units, challenges faced in waste management as well as other relevant development issues facing the community.
The meeting also saw North Huvadhu Atoll councilors stating that they had already secured funding to renovate mosques on all the atoll's islands.
They touched upon the importance of renovating the state house as well as addressing the most urgent needs for the development of the atoll.
Listening to these concerns, the president assured them that his administration would address the issues raised and work to tackle them in consultation with relevant authorities.
