President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has met with members of South Huvadhu Atoll Council and Women's Development Committee (WDC).

The meeting was held on Tuesday, as part of his tour of some islands in the south of Maldives which he began on Sunday morning.

During the meeting held at the secretariat of the South Huvadhu Atoll Council, council members discussed multiple issues of concern.

As such, they shed light on the need for a modern state house to replace the existing one.

They also stressed the need to have an uninhabited island under atoll council’s jurisdiction for economic benefits.

They went on to touch upon the challenges faced in recruiting technical staff, space constraints at the council secretariat as well as the need for increased profitability of atoll shops and to take steps to benefit the entire atoll.

Listening to these concerns, the president provided updates on the administration’s course of action to resolve the issues raised.

He also informed them about the administration’s plan to extend the benefits of atoll shops in the capital Malé City, to the atoll council.
