Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer is in Germany on an official visit.
The foreign minister arrived in Munich, Germany early Friday morning.
His visit is to participate in the 60th edition of the Munich Security Conference.
The Munich Security Conference is scheduled to take place from February 16 – 18.
In a post on social media platform ‘X’, the foreign minister expressed keen interest to engage in fruitful engagements with his counterparts.
Stressing that Maldives and other Small Island Developing States (SIDS) are often in the periphery on discourse around international security, the foreign minister expressed intent to bring the island nation’s experiences and perspectives to the table.
On Friday, the foreign minister would join other world leaders and senior officials in a panel discussion entitled “From Pocket to Planet: Scaling Up Climate Finance”.
In addition to this, FM Zameer will be holding meetings with other foreign ministers and senior officials on the sidelines of the conference.
The Munich Security Conference is an annual conference that convenes several high-profile and senior decision-makers from around the globe, including heads of state, ministers, leading figures of international and non-governmental organizations, high-ranking representatives of industry, media and academia.
The conference provides a platform for these leaders to engage in an intensive debate on international security policy.
It was founded by Ewald von Kleist, a German publisher in the fall of 1963.
