Maldives remains strongly committed to work alongside bilateral and multilateral partners in the fight against global terrorism

The government of Maldives has condemned the terrorist attack in Somalia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement publicized on Monday, condemned the terrorist attack targeted at a military base in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia that resulted in a number of fatalities of military personnel from the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Somalia, injuring several more.

The government of Maldives stressed that such acts of terrorism that are in blatant violation of international law negatively impact the peace and stability in the region.

These cowardly acts also carry the risk of grave implications on an international scale.

The ministry reiterated that the government of Maldives stands against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

Further, Maldives remains strongly committed to work alongside bilateral and multilateral partners in the fight against global terrorism. 

The Maldivian government went on to express sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families and to all those affected by this dreadful attack.

The government has also expressed solidarity with the government and people of Somalia.
