The Maldives will maintain its borders autonomously, including maritime, aerial, and terrestrial domains, says President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

The president said this while speaking to the residents of Veymandoo island of Thaa atoll on Tuesday.

The meeting was held as part of his ongoing three-day tour of some islands of Thaa atoll.

Taking the podium at the event, Muizzu declared that the island nation would maintain independent control over all its territories, including maritime, aerial, and terrestrial domains.

Announcing that the island nation would assume sole regulation of the Exclusive Economic Zones very soon, the Maldivian leader stated that the planning for this work is underway.

He assured that the execution of this endeavor would proceed swiftly, without delay.

Shedding light on the incumbent administration’s steady efforts to recover the maritime territories the nation has lost, President Muizzu stated that he would remain committed to this objective.

He also pledged to continue working on it until it is accomplished.

Speaking to Veymandoo residents, Muizzu also announced plans to enhance the capabilities of the island nation to conduct underwater surveys.

He noted that Maldivians aspire to conduct scanning and mapping activities within their territory.

Further, Muizzu touched upon the government’s resilient efforts to equip the armed forces with the necessary capabilities.

Shedding light on his commitment to fulfill all promises, Muizzu assured that they would be honored as promised.

Reiterating commitment to enhance road infrastructure in Veymandoo and other major islands, Muizzu stressed the significance of prioritizing a land reclamation initiative in Veymandoo.

In addition to this, the Maldivian leader detailed plans to enhance educational facilities and boost the quality of healthcare services provided in Veymandoo.

Speaking to the island community, Muizzu stated that the administration plans to celebrate Eid-al-Fitr in accordance with Islamic traditions and that arrangements would be made across all cities and atoll-governed islands.

As such, lighting will be provided and the government would arrange Takbir recitations across islands, similar to recent festivities in the capital Malé City.
