The harbor development project initiated in Maafushi Island of Kaafu atoll is progressing well.
This was revealed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Monday.
As such, providing the latest updates of the Maafushi harbor development project to the public via a post on social media platform ‘X’, MTCC revealed that the project is well underway.
The company delivered the second shipment of concrete blocks required for the quay wall construction component of the project, on February 3.
Under the scope of the project, MTCC is required to conduct new harbor basin dredging operations in an area measuring 63,711 cubic meters and maintenance dredging operations in an area measuring 28,836 cubic meters.
Further, channel dredging operations will be conducted in an area measuring 4,414 cubic meters.
The project also entails the construction of a breakwater measuring 31 meters and a rock boulder revetment measuring 680 meters.
MTCC will also be constructing a geo bag revetment measuring 700 meters and a quay wall measuring 374 meters under the scope of the project.
In addition to this, a 1,869-square meter harbor pavement will also be installed.
The project also entails the construction of a concrete jetty, a bridge and the installation of harbor lights.
The Maafushi harbor development project is valued at MVR 76.48 million.
