President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has expressed hope to observe the further enhancing of friendly relations Maldives enjoys with neighboring Sri Lanka.

The president said this in separate messages sent on the occasion of the 76th Independence Day of Sri Lanka, on Sunday.

The Maldivian leader offered felicitations to President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and conveyed greetings on his behalf, as well as the government and people of Maldives, to the government and people of Sri Lanka.

In his messages, Muizzu applauded Sri Lanka for reaching this significant milestone.

The president also shed light on the long history built on a foundation of friendship, mutual respect, shared values and commitment to maintaining regional stability, between the two countries.
