Club Valencia is planning to lodge a complaint with the Maldives Police Service (MPS) and the Commissioner of Sports over an allegedly forged letter submitted by Vice Chairman of Club Eagles Muwafiz ‘Mufa’ Hashim, who is contesting in the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) elections, claiming that he has been endorsed by Club Valencia.
When Muwafiz filed his application to run in next month's election, he was in possession of a the alleged letter claiming support from Valencia.
However, the club has claimed that they are endorsing none other than former President of FAM and former national team forward Ahmed ‘Tom’ Thoriq.
Valencia has also addressed a letter to the electoral committee of FAM in connection with the case, signed by their new Chairman Abdulla Azmeen.
The letter clarifies that the club has given full endorsement to Tom and that they support him and only him in the election, even though some media outlets have been reporting that the club endorses Mufa.
In addition to this, as the sports commissioners have accepted Azmeen as the Chairman of Club Valencia, it has been claimed that a letter in the name of someone else cannot be deemed authentic under any circumstance.
With this, the club has decided to head to the police institution and sports commissioner with the issue of forging a letter under the club’s name.
The letter also expresses hope that it would become clear, which side has garnered Valencia’s support.
