The no-confidence motion against the Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has again been scheduled for Sunday.
The no-confidence motion against Nasheed was scheduled for Sunday, following the verdict hearing of the petition submitted by the main ruling party, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) at the Supreme Court, regarding the delay in proceeding the no-confidence motion against Nasheed.
The Supreme Court decided that Nasheed's no-confidence motion can be exercised even in the absence of the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Eva Abdulla.
Nasheed's no-confidence motion is scheduled for 09:00 am.
Nasheed's no-confidence motion has been put on the agenda of the Majlis on five different occasions, but had to be cancelled as the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Eva Abdulla, who the majlis says has to chair the meetings, called-in sick.
The no-confidence motion against Nasheed was submitted to the Majlis with the signatures of 49 parliament members in October 2023.
