The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has publicized the final list of housing flat beneficiaries under the “Gedhoruveriyaa” scheme.

In a publication on Saturday, the planning ministry has revealed the details of flat beneficiaries as well as the recipients of the 4,000 flats under construction by ‘Fahi Dhiriulhun’ Corporation.

Among those who received the 4,000 flats, only those who have scored 76 and above will get the three-room apartments. Further, the two-room apartments will be given to those who scored 73 and above.

Further, the publication reads that those selected for allotment of flats out of the 4,000 flats, will be allowed to participate in the draw to decide the flat they will be allotted.

Recipients may check the date and time they are required to attend the draw, through the ‘Gedhoruverin’ portal.

The publication goes on to read that those who are not among the beneficiaries of the 4,000 flats but have been declared in the permanent list as eligible, will be provided with a written undertaking through the portal that a flat will be allotted as part of the housing projects to be undertaken by the government.

As such, if a couple is selected to get the flat by submitting separate applications, then one flat will be allotted to the couple, or one flat to one of the two people.

Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) is currently carrying out the project of building 4,000 housing units in Hulhumalé Phase II as part of the “Gedhoruveriyaa” scheme. The planning ministry revealed that these housing units will be completed by 2024.

The 4,000 housing units are being constructed by two India-based companies.

More than 20,000 applications were received for flats under the scheme, out of which more than 13,000 met the eligibility criteria.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had earlier announced the decision to allot flats to all of the applicants who meet the eligibility criteria.

An interim list of flat beneficiaries was publicized on August 8. Those who wished to submit complaints regarding the provisional list were allowed to do so through the ‘Gedhoruverin Portal’ from 8 August 2023 to 22 August 2023.

Out of these, 2,000 housing units are being constructed at a price tag of USD 137 million by India’s JMC Projects, with the remaining 2,000 having been contracted to India’s NBCC company.

Under the project, 32 towers comprising of 17 or 18 stories, will be constructed. Each of the 32 towers will feature 128 apartments. These include 1,200 two-bedroom apartments and 2,800 three-bedroom apartments.

The ‘Gedhoruverin’ programme was launched by the administration to address the housing crisis facing the residents of the Greater Malé Region.
