Muizzu extended well wishes to the people on the occasion of 897th anniversary of the country’s conversion to Islam

President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has asserted that the incoming government of the Progressive Party of Maldives and People’s National Congress coalition, will be the government that places the highest priority in people’s nationalism and Islamic values.

He said this in a statement issued in commemoration of the day the Maldives embraced Islam. The president-elect extended well wishes to the people on the occasion of the 897th anniversary of the country’s conversion to Islam,

As such, Dr. Muizzu revealed that he will create a government that upholds the sovereignty and honor of the Maldives, one that will continue to uphold the beautiful culture and ways of the people and will raise the reputation of Maldives in the international world.

The president-elect went on to note that with only three years left for the completion of the ninth century of the Maldives embraced Islam, adding that this historical event brought about the biggest positive change in the country.

Muizzu highlighted that the country’s continued existence as a 100 percent Muslim nation over such a long period of time, stands as an example for the entire world.

Noting that the Maldives faces a variety of spiritual, strategic and economic challenges of modern times, Dr. Muizzu highlighted that Maldivian want to face each of these challenges in the interest of the people.

The statement goes on to read that the PPM-PNC government will accord a high priority to upholding Islamic values and nationalism.
