A large stash of alcohol in police custody which was confiscated during multiple different operations, has been destroyed in Dharavandhoo island of Baa atoll.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the alcohol was destroyed in Dharavandhoo island on Sunday.
Destroyed in Dharavandhoo on Sunday were 258 bottles of alcohol and 119 cans of beer.
They are among the many items brought into the custody of the police institution, in connection with different cases linked to operations by tourist police as well as the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).
They were all confiscated from tourists that arrived at Dharavandhoo Domestic Airport for departure between June to September this year.
The institution revealed that the alcohol was destroyed under the supervision of the relevant police team and under the set legal procedure for it.
