The harbor development project in Milandhoo island of Shaviyani atoll is progressing well.
This was revealed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Wednesday.
As such, taking to Twitter to provide the latest updates of the Milandhoo harbor development project to the public, MTCC revealed that they have delivered the fourth shipment of concrete blocks required for the quay wall construction component, to the project site.
The company noted that the block installation work is ongoing, with 53 percent completion.
The physical work of the project was commenced by MTCC on 16 May 2023.
The Milandhoo harbor development project entails dredging operations for a new harbor basin, in an area measuring 72,938 cubic meters as well as of the channel in a 8,400-cubic-meter-area.
Further, MTCC is required to conduct maintenance dredging operations in an area measuring 17,900 cubic meters.
The construction of a 583-meter breakwater, a quay wall measuring 316 meters, a revetment measuring 93 meters and a groyne measuring 25 meters also come under the scope of the project.
In addition to constructing two bridges and a jetty measuring 130 meters by two meters, MTCC will also be installing an access platform, harbor lights and navigational lights alongside a pavement measuring 3,863 square meters.
The Milandhoo harbor development project is valued at MVR 76.44 million.
