President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stressed that the administration's paramount objective is to protect and maintain the country's independence and sovereignty bequeathed to the citizens by our national hero, al-Sultan al-Ghaazee Muhammad Thakurufaanu al-A'uzam.
The President conveyed these sentiments in his address to the nation on the occasion of National Day, being marked on Saturday.
Initiating his address with cordial greetings and best wishes to all Maldivians on the auspicious occasion of National Day, President Solih paid homage to the heroic sacrifices of the national hero al-Sultan Muhammad Thakurufaanu and his companions in securing the nation's independence. The President invoked the blessings of the almighty Allah upon their souls.
President Solih articulated that the unwavering commitment of every citizen should be to preserve and defend our Islamic values, indigenous language, cultural heritage, traditions, and the unique characteristics that amalgamate our independence and sovereignty into a cohesive sense of nationalism.
The President also underscored that the Maldives has established its reputation as a dependable and sovereign nation in the contemporary international arena. He underscored that the administration's foremost priority would continue to be protecting and preserving the independence and sovereignty bequeathed by our national hero, al-Sultan Muhammad Thakurufaanu.
