President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has inaugurated the newly completed infrastructure projects in Maabaidhoo and Maavah Islands of Laamu Atoll.
President Solih inaugurated these projects during his ongoing visit to the atoll, on Tuesday.
As such, President Solih presided over the opening of the new powerhouse and Fenaka office in Maabaidhoo Island and unveiled an upgraded harbor and water supply network in Maavah Island.
The newly developed powerhouse of Maabaidhoo Island boasts a power generation capacity of 980 kilowatts, signifying a substantial leap in delivering dependable and efficient power to the island.
The Fenaka office, a state-of-the-art and capacious establishment, was also inaugurated. These inaugurations mark a significant milestone in the development of local infrastructure and the sustained progress of the community.
Altec Maldives Pvt. Ltd. developed the water supply network in Maavah Island, while the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) enhanced the harbor. The project encompassed significant improvements, including deepening the harbor basin, erecting a 284-metre breakwater, a 110-metre quay wall, and a 40-metre revetment, and executing other pertinent harbor enhancement initiatives.
Under President Solih's leadership, the administration has achieved significant strides towards equitable development across all inhabited islands in the Maldives. This includes enhancing the quality of life for citizens and empowering them to lead dignified lives. During his visits to various islands, President Solih is officially inaugurating the completion of numerous projects and services.
