President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has inaugurated the completed harbor upgrading projects in Feevah and Feydhoo Islands of Shaviyani Atoll.
These projects were inaugurated during President Solih's ongoing visit to Shaviyani Atoll, on Tuesday.
The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) was contracted to carry out the harbor upgrading projects. The projects included a range of improvements such as harbor basin deepening, seawall development, installation of revetments, development of quay walls, pavement, and port lighting.
According to MTCC, Feevah harbor development project was wrapped up on 29 January 2022.
Under the scope of the project, MTCC carried out dredging operations of 40,420 cubic meters and channel dredging operations of 14,743 cubic meters.
Further, they also constructed a quay wall measuring 474 meters as well as a 356-meter breakwater and a revetment measuring 182 meters.
The project also included the installment of a 27-meter groyne and 2,320 square meters of harbor pavement, streetlights and navigation lights.
The project is valued at MVR 67.6 million and was contracted to be completed within 390 days, by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure on 2 July 2019.
Under the scope of the project, for Sh. Feydhoo harbor, MTCC conducted dredging operations of 27,500 cubic meters and construct a quay wall measuring 276 meters.
The company also built a revetment measuring 90 meters as well as a 378-meter breakwater.
The installation of navigation lights and streetlights was also included under the scope of the project.
The project was valued at MVR 35.6 million.
