The channel and maintenance dredging project in Baarah island of Haa Alif atoll is well underway.
This was revealed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Sunday.
As such, providing the latest updates of the Baarah channel and maintenance dredging project via Twitter, the company revealed that the project has reached 70 percent progress overall.
So far, MTCC has completed the channel dredging operations and harbor basin maintenance dredging operations.
Under the scope of the project, the company is required to conduct channel dredging operations in an area measuring 49,437.5 cubic meters and maintenance dredging operations in an area measuring 8,600 cubic meters.
MTCC will also be constructing a 460-meter geobag revetment and installing navigational lights as part of the project.
The Baarah channel and maintenance dredging project is valued at MVR 14.5 million.
The project was contracted to MTCC by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure in April 2021.
