The honors were presented at the official ceremony at the Maldives Centre for Social Education

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has conferred the National Award of Honor on five recipients and the National Award of Recognition on 18 recipients.

The honors were presented at the official ceremony at the Maldives Centre for Social Education (MCSE), commemorating the Maldives’ 58th anniversary of independence, on Wednesday.

The recipients of the National Award of Honor were presented with commemorative shields and badges by President Solih, while recipients of the National Award of Recognition received commemorative plaques.

The National Awards Committee, established by the President to determine the recipients of these prestigious awards, selected the individuals who were honored.

The National Award of Honor was conferred upon the following five recipients by the President:

  1. Sheikh Ahmed Fahmy Didi: For his excellent contributions towards raising religious awareness and Islamic education.
  2. Rasheeda Ibrahim: For her excellent contributions in the field of Dhivehi language and literature.
  3. Voyages Maldives Pvt. Ltd.: For their excellent and continued efforts in the tourism sector.
  4. Captain Ahmed Zubair: For his exceptional service to the development and growth of the maritime industry.
  5. Maizan Ali Maniku: For his exceptional service to the development of sports.

The National Award of Recognition was conferred upon the following 18 recipients by the President:

  1. Al-Qari Ibrahim Ramzee: For his remarkable efforts to promote Quranic studies and for the recitation of the Quran.
  2. Sheikh Hassan Latheef Moosa: For his excellent and continued service in teaching religious studies.
  3. Ali Ameer: For his outstanding contributions to promoting oratory.
  4. Farouq Ahmed: For his outstanding contributions as a writer.
  5. Liyuntheringe Gulhun: For their outstanding contributions in promoting Dhivehi language and research in the field.
  6. Abdul Samad Ali: For his perseverance to sustain toddy tapping, a dying wage earning activity.
  7. Mohamed Wajeeh: For his innovative and successful methods of teaching.
  8. Ibrahim Rasheed: For his contribution to the fisheries industry.
  9. Hassan Saeed: For his excellent and continued efforts in promoting tourism.
  10. Shiyama Ahmed: For her voluntary service to skills training for employment.
  11. Cadet Major Yaasir Mohamed: For his voluntary service in empowering youth as responsible citizens.
  12. Shifza Musthafa: For her remarkable contribution to promoting journalism and reporting.
  13. Ahmed Muhsin: For his remarkable efforts to promote responsible journalism and reporting.
  14. Ahmed Saleem: For his unwavering service as a sports trainer.
  15. Aminath Shaanee: For her dedicated service in the culinary arts.
  16. Ahmed Azmee Haleem: For his remarkable and continued efforts to promote art and craftsmanship, especially in the fine arts.
  17. Mohamed Nihan Naseer: For his remarkable service in performing and strengthening radio drama.
  18. Sergeant Abdulla Shahuneez: For his remarkable efforts to promote youth leadership through volunteerism.

During the ceremony, President Solih extended his congratulations to all the recipients of the National Awards. These awards are conferred annually to acknowledge and commend the efforts of individuals and organisations that have made significant contributions to the development of the nation and the betterment of society.
