Maldivians traveling to the Arab Republic of Egypt are to be granted visa-on-arrival.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed that the on-arrival tourist visa will allow all Maldivian passport-holders including ordinary, diplomatic and official passports, to enter and stay in Egypt for a maximum of 30 days from the day of entry.
The visa fee has been priced at USD 25.
However, Maldivians who intend to stay for a longer period of time, wish to travel to Egypt for work, attend an educational institution, or conduct business in the country will be required to obtain an appropriate visa prior to traveling.
The ministry revealed that the Maldivian government considers this momentous decision by the government of Egypt as a reflection of the close and historic relations between the two countries.
The government of Maldives also revealed that the decision mirrors the high regard the Egyptian government has accorded to the archipelago nation.
