President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has assured his administration’s commitment to promote women empowerment.
As part of his ongoing tour of southernmost Addu City, President Solih sat down with members of the Addu Women’s Development Committee (WDC) to engage in extensive discussions regarding the city’s progress.
Meeting WDC members of Addu City, the president assured them that his administration remains unwavering in its commitment in the efforts to promote women empowerment.
Discussions also revolved around the progress and initiatives to foster the socio-economic growth and well-being of Addu women.
Expressing concern over the island council’s current allocation of the budget, the WDC members shed light on the significance of increasing the percentage designated for WDC activities.
They went on to suggest the administration to introduce extra allowances for them and proposed strategies to enhance women's empowerment in broader society.
Listening to these concerns, the president shed light on the importance of amending relevant laws to facilitate the committee in tackling these issues more effectively.
President Solih went on to assure the WDC members that his administration will explore the necessary changes required to update and enhance their work, aiming to create a more conducive work environment.
During his three-day official visit to the southernmost city, President Solih is accompanied by a high-level delegation of government officials.
The visit aims to enhance engagement and explore opportunities for further collaboration between the administration and institutions in Addu City.
