The man arrested in Friday night's assault has been remanded.
The fight took place at around 11:25 pm on Friday, near Dinemore, on Majeedhee Magu. The high visibility police stopped the fight, before it got out of control.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) arrested a 25 year old Maldivian man from the scene of the crime on Friday.
On Saturday, the criminal court remanded the man for 15 days.
MPS states that the man was arrested for the peace and security of the society.
MPS also disclosed that others involved in the assault has fled. They noted that two of them, fled after leaving their motorcycle, at the scene. MPS has since towed the cycle.
The authority is working to identify the others involved in the crime.
Furthermore, it is reported that a machete was found at the scene of the crime.
According to witnesses, those involved in the assault tried to attack with the machete and that the police used pepper spray to control the fight.
Police is further investigating the case.
