First Lady Fazna Ahmed has attended the festivities to mark Children’s Day, in Gemanafushi island of Gaaf Alif atoll.

FL Fazna visited Gemanafushi island on Friday to attend the children’s festival held on the island to mark Children’s Day.

The children’s festival was organized by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in the Maldives in partnership with the Maldives Police Service (MPS), with the cooperation of the Gemanafushi Island Council, government offices and institutions as well as the civil society.

The first lady inaugurated the children’s evening alongside UNICEF Representative in the Maldives Dr. Edward Addai and Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed on Friday.

The children’s festivities featured informative stalls by the police institution, the Children's Ombudsperson's Office, Gemanafushi School, government offices and institutions, as well as non-governmental organizations.

The event saw FL Fazna spending time with the children from the island.

The festivities organized jointly by MPS and UNICEF Maldives to mark the day also included a nationwide art competition and exhibition themed "Child Rights," an awareness session for parents and students of the islands of Gaaf Alif atoll as well as a cleaning event.

FL Fazna also visited the art exhibition and viewed the artwork featured at the exhibition, following the commencement of children’s day festivities on the island.
