President Solih inaugurated the festival on Monday

The first-ever international art festival to be hosted in the Maldives, has been inaugurated.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih inaugurated the ‘Faruma International Youth Art Festival 2023’ during an event held on Monday evening.

Titled ‘Faruma International Youth Art Festival 2023’, the event is an initiative of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, organized in collaboration with the Maldivian Artist Community (MAC), an NGO dedicated to art incepted in 2016.

The president took the podium at Monday’s event, highlighting that the participation of several skilled Maldivians from different walks of life is a big boost to the administration’s efforts to build people.

President Solih also noted that all sectors Maldivian artists are participating in at the festival, will play a pivotal role in national development.

The Faruma International Youth Art Festival 2023, being held at the Social Center in the capital city, Malé, will proceed from May 8 – 13.

The Faruma Fest 2023 features the work of more than 80 artists from eight countries.

Although there have been several events initiated for artists in the archipelago nation in the past, this is the first such festival to be held at an international level.
