An individual has been critically injured in a road accident that occurred in Hulhumalé Phase II.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that they received reports of the road accident at around 11:45am on Thursday. An 18-year-old man riding a motorcycle was injured in the collision.

The accident is to have occurred after a car and a motorbike collided on Nirolhu Magu.

The 18-year-old was initially given treatment for injuries attained in the crash, at the Hulhumalé Hospital. However he was reportedly transferred to ADK Hospital for further treatment. Doctors report that the man has suffered from internal bleeding into the brain.

RaajjeMV has acquired some video footage of the accident, which show the youth involved in the crash, lying on the ground splattered with blood.

Some eyewitnesses in the area told RaajjeMV that the man appeared to be critically injured, with him suffering from heavy bleeding from his nose and head.

The man was rushed to the hospital not long after the crash.

According to eyewitnesses, the crash occurred while the car was attempting to take a U-turn near the bridge in Phase II.
