A summons notice has been publicized for an individual wanted in an extortion case.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) issued the manhunt on Thursday, in accordance with section 27 of the Code of Criminal Procedure to be followed by the police while investigating criminal cases.

The suspect is being sought for police interrogation regarding a case being probed by the Hulhumeedhoo Police Station in the southernmost Addu City.

He is accused of acquiring money through fraud and deception.

The manhunt was publicized as the authority’s efforts to locate the man and handover his summons notice has been to no avail so far, as the MPS has been unable to track him down and as the family of the suspect is also unaware of his whereabouts.

Being sought is Mohamed Nashid, 53 and native to Hithadhoo district of Addu City.

Nashid is to present himself to the Hulhumeedhoo Police Station or the nearest police station at 10am, April 30.
