Judge Adam Mohamed who is the acting chief judge of the Criminal Court, has applied for the post of Criminal Court Chief Judge by the time the application window closed.

Highlighting that only judges employed at the Criminal Court may apply for the post of chief judge, the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) opened applications for the post through 12pm, April 3.

When contacted by RaajjeMV, a media official at JSC revealed that at the end of the deadline, Judge Adam Mohamed had applied for the post.

The salary for the chief judge at the Criminal Court is set at MVR 49,300.

JSC reached the decision to appoint Judge Adam Mohamed as the court’s acting chief judge in mid-March.

The decision came after then-chief judge Ahmed Shakeel was recently promoted to the High Court of Maldives.
