The President’s Office shared that the conference would be held from 12 May to 14 May, in Hanimaadhoo Island in Haa Alif Atoll.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih earlier stated that the most significant objective of holding Viavathi Raajje conference is to review the speedy and effective implementation of the decentralization policy.

President Solih noted that the objective of reviewing the speedy and effective implementation of the decentralization policy is to ensure that the people’s developmental aspirations are met.

Additionally, he noted that this is to identify ways to strengthen and improve governance based on feedback.

President Solih stated that the conference offered a national-level platform to discuss policies and assured that the administration would consider the implementation of the decisions made at this platform.

The conference seeks to pave the opportunity to review the existing structures and find avenues for improvement.

Further, it also presents an opportunity for the incumbent administration to confer its policies to ensure good governance.

The conference will allow representatives of the councils and WDCs to present their concerns to the president and hold discussions seeking solutions.
