The man arrested for breaking into an office and stealing a hefty amount of cash has been remanded by 15 days.
The break-in was reported from an office located on the first floor of a building in Henveiru-ward of Malé City.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the case was submitted to them on March 23.
A 43-year-old Maldivian man, native to Gan Island in Laamu Atoll was arrested in connection with the break-in and theft on Tuesday.
The Criminal Court on Wednesday, remanded the man by 15 days.
The Court noted that based on the complainant's letter, fingerprint identification notice and photographs of MMI Maldives Pvt Ltd's office, it is believed that he committed the offence.
Police officers recovered more than MVR 500,000 in cash, during a raid at the suspect’s residence, after he was arrested.
The police Serious and Organized Crime Department is currently investigating the case further.
