State Minister Khaleel meets with the Presidential Special Envoy of Korean Republic
Both State Minister and Presidential Special Envoy also reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel has met with the Presidential Special Envoy of the Republic of Korea, Lee Jin-bok
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel has met with the Presidential Special Envoy of the Republic of Korea, Lee Jin-bok.
The Presidential Special Envoy is currently undertaking an Official Visit to the Maldives from 21 -22 March 2023.
The meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday.
State Minister Khaleel welcomed the Presidential Special Envoy to the Maldives and noted that this visit would serve to further strengthen the bilateral relations between the Maldives and the Republic of Korea.
During the meeting, State Minister Khaleel and Presidential Special Envoy Lee Jin-bok discussed ways to further strengthen the relations between the two countries in areas of mutual interest. State Minister Khaleel also expressed his appreciation for the generous contributions of the Government of the Republic of Korea, including through agencies such as the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), to the development of the Maldives.
Both State Minister and Presidential Special Envoy also reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation in areas such as tourism, education, and economic development and collaboration in advancing interests in areas of mutual concern, both bilaterally and internationally.
The Presidential Special Envoy was accompanied by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Maldives, Woonjin Jeong, and other senior officials from the Government of the Republic of Korea.
During the visit, the Presidential Special Envoy is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Vice President Faisal Naseem.
The Maldives and the Republic of Korea are also due to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on tourism cooperation, during the visit.
State Minister Khaleel was accompanied at the meeting by Foreign Secretary, Ahmed Latheef, Secretary (Economic Cooperation), Dr. Hussain Niyaz, Additional Secretary, Amin Javed Faizal, Joint Secretary, Mariyam Midhfa Naeem, Assistant Director, Khadeejath Nizwee Rasheed and Assistant Director, Ibrahim Haail.
