The Non-Resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Maldives to the Republic of Italy, Dr. Asim Ahmed has presented his Letter of Credence to the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella.

The Maldivian Ambassador presented his letter of credence at a ceremony held at the Quirinale Palace in Rome, Italy, on Thursday.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Asim Ahmed conveyed greetings from President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the people of Maldives to the President, and the People of Italy.

Ambassador Asim further expressed commitment to work closely with the Government of Italy during his tenure with a renewed focus on enhancing bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries.

During his visit to Italy, Ambassador Asim Ahmed met with officials from the Italian government and discussed ways to further strengthen the traditional, close and friendly relations between the two countries.

Ambassador Asim was accompanied by Hassan Hussain Shihab, Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Maldives to the United Nations and other International Organizations at Geneva.
