President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has revealed that there are currently 509 additional infrastructural development projects linked to education, underway.

He made this remark during his fifth presidential address, delivered during the inaugural sitting of the People’s Majlis on Monday morning.

Delivering his presidential address, the president said the country will be rebuilt by building the youth.

President Solih noted that there are special initiatives taken by the government for this effort.

He said that it was first necessary to perfect the resources, in order to bring the education system on par with the entire country.

He said that parents do not take their children to school early in the morning to be restricted to a chair under the scorching sun or heavy downpour in the absence of a roofless classroom.

He stressed that the issues faced due to the number of students and available resources not coinciding, were present even when he assumed office in November 2018.

So far, 1,578 classrooms and 85 multipurpose halls are being built across the country in a bid to increase space and resources and to reduce the issues faced in teaching. In addition to this, another 509 infrastructure projects related to education are under completion”
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

The Maldivian leader went on to state that skilled and expert teachers are the foundation of a quality education system, adding that several needs of teachers that remained unfulfilled, have since been met.

President Solih assured that there are still such projects in the education sector which need to be taken up soon.

When I took office, there was no scope for higher secondary education in all the atolls, however, today we are seeing that the opportunity to pursue higher secondary education in all atolls of the country has been paved”
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

The president said he had pledged to bring about a major change in the island nation which will likely not last for a prolonged period of time, unless it is organized in a specific order and arrangement.

He said that the happiness, prosperity, productivity, and sufficiency of the people were behind these changes.

For this, he said there must be no difference in the policies of the government and there should be a clear target.
