The High Commissioner of the Republic of Maldives to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Ali Faiz has presented his Letter of Credence to the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe.
High Commissioner Faiz presented his Letter of Credence to President Wickremesinghe at a ceremony held at the President’s House, Kandy, on Thursday.
During the ensuing courtesy call, High Commissioner Faiz expressed his gratitude for the honor to present his Letter of Credence and serve as the High Commissioner of Maldives to Sri Lanka.
High Commissioner Faiz also conveyed greetings from President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the people of Maldives to the President and the people of Sri Lanka.
Additionally, noting the historical and close bonds between both the two countries, High Commissioner Faiz thanked the Sri Lankan Government for its unwavering support and assistance to the Maldivians residing in Sri Lanka.
The High Commissioner further commended the leadership of President Wickremesinghe and the Government of Sri Lanka in tackling the current economic crisis and expressed hope for the country’s recovery at the earliest.
The High Commissioner also expressed his commitment to work closely with the Government of Sri Lanka with renewed focus on further strengthening the existing bilateral relations between the two countries, in both bilateral and multilateral spheres.
The President of Sri Lanka, congratulated High Commissioner Faiz on the assumption of his duties as High Commissioner of Maldives to Sri Lanka and assured that his Government will work closely with the Government of Maldives for the benefit of the two countries and its peoples.
