Drugs worth over MVR two million have been seized.
The Maldives Customs Service revealed that they seized the large parcel of drugs being smuggled into the Maldives via courier.
The authority revealed that the suspected drugs inside the parcel was from the Netherlands, and had tested positive to Mephedrone and heroin.
Customs revealed that they inspected the parcel after suspicions, during an inspection of parcels that were shipped into the Maldives through courier service.
In the first phase of investigations, the substances inside the parcel had tested positive to Mephedrone and heroin. The inspection was carried out on November 20.
The seized drugs carry a street value of MVR 2,049,000 , and weigh a total of 1.34 kilo gram.
The drugs have since been handed over to the Maldives Police Service (MPS).
