The High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore to the Republic of the Maldives, Soo Kok Leng has paid a courtesy call on Vice President Faisal Naseem.
The meeting was held at the President’s Office on Wednesday.
Vice President Naseem congratulated the new HC on his appointment and welcomed him to the Maldives.
During the meeting, the VP and High Commissioner emphasized on the strong relationship between the two countries and spoke on the importance of close collaboration on areas of mutual benefit.
They also spoke on ways to further expand relations between the two countries. As such, discussions were held on areas such as human resource development, education, trade, agriculture, renewable energy, climate change, and the environment.
The two men also highlighted on the need for both countries to share knowledge and expertise in adopting initiatives and programmes, such as educational curriculum development, vocational training, modern agricultural methods, and rehabilitation programmes.
Additionally, VP Naseem and the High Commissioner reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the coming years.
The Maldives and Singapore established diplomatic relations on February 20, 1975.
