Ashraf Ali has been appointed to the post of Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Home Affairs.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih made the appointment on Wednesday.
The new Deputy Minister of Home Affairs holds a master’s degree in language and culture from the Maldives National University (MNU).
Prior to his appointment , Ashraf served as the Dean and President of two private higher education institutions; Avid College and Alimas Academy, respectively.
Other positions he filled include the President of the Dhivehi Language Academy.
The new Deputy Minister of Home Affairs is also a recipient of the SAARC Literary Award in 2019.
