The airport development project in Faresmaathodaa island in Gaaf Dhaal atoll, is nearing completion with 82 percent of the works finished so far.
The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Tuesday revealed that the airport development project in Faresmaathodaa is currently well underway, having reached overall 82 percent progress by Tuesday.
Further, MTCC revealed that the construction work for the fire building and terminal building have also reached 95 percent and 80 percent completion respectively.
Currently ongoing at the project site are the installation works for the boundary and security fence.
Under the scope of the project, MTCC is required to conduct subbase and subgrade work for the runway, taxiway, apron, fire pad and fire road.
A fire building and terminal building also come under the scope of the project.
The project was contracted to MTCC by the Ministry of National Planning Housing and Infrastructure on 10 November 2020.
The project was mobilized on 1 January 2021 and is valued at MVR 144,883,139.42.
