Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has commenced Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry service in Lhaviyani Atoll.
MTCC states that ferries to acquaint the customers with the service was commenced on 21 November. As such the company notes that customers can travel for free from 21 November to 27 November.
MTCC states that this is to acquaint the customers with the ferry schedule to enhance customer experience.
The company also notes that customer feedback would be taken into consideration to provide customers with the best services.
Customers will have to contact Island Councils to confirm their tickets during these seven days.
MTCC states that normal ferry service will commence in the atoll from 28 November onwards. As such, from 24 November onwards, customers can purchase their tickets via MTCC website or the RTL travel application.
Once the normal ferry services are commenced, tickets cannot be confirmed via the Island Councils.
Children below the age of three and people with special needs can travel for free on RTL ferries.
RTL ferries are scheduled for seven days a week with two speed ferries providing the service via three routes.
MTCC commenced the RTL ferry service under the Integrated National Public Ferry Network. The network is designed to connect the three zones and six regions of the National Special Plan (2020-2040), including passenger and freight ferries. The ferry network will connect all the islands in the six regions. There are three different ways to connect the passenger ferry. They are via "Commute Link", "Non-Commute Link", and "Highway Link".
Lhaviyani Atoll is in Zone Two.
So far, MTCC has commenced the service in Haa Alif Atoll, Haa Dhaalu Atoll and Shaviyani Atoll in Zone One.
