The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has launched a manhunt for an individual wanted in connection with a drug trafficking case.
The manhunt was launched following a court order issued to the police institution to locate the man, take him into police custody and present him to court in connection with a case of drug trafficking submitted at the Gan Magistrate Court in Laamu atoll.
Being located is Hussain Athif, 28, a native of Gan island.
Athif is being sought after efforts to present him to the court in connection with charges of trafficking Diamorphine drugs, were to no avail.
The man is to be presented to the Gan Magistrate Court at 12pm on November 20.
The public has been urged to contact the Police Custodial Department through 9991442 if any information is attained on the whereabouts of the suspect.
The police institution took the opportunity to express gratitude to the public for the immense support and assistance extended in connection with such cases.
