Leading global Islamic scholar and motivational cleric from Zimbabwe, Sheikh Ismail Ibn Musa Menk, largely known as Mufti Menk is to give a sermon on Friday evening.

Menk arrived in the Maldives upon an official invitation from the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.

The renowned Muslim scholar was welcomed at the Velana International Airport (VIA) by Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali.

Several activities have been planned for Menk’s trip, including sermons in the Maldives capital, Malé City, its suburban extension Hulhumalé as well as Fuvahmulah and Addu City in the south of Maldives.

As such, the ministry revealed that the internationally renowned cleric will be speaking about depression, anxiety and stress at the sermon to be held at 8:45pm on Friday evening.

The sermon will be delivered at the Alimas Carnival area of Male City and is open to the general public.

The cleric will be delivering a number of sermons over the weekend.

As part of Menk’s four-day visit to Maldives, he will be visiting Fuvahmulah City on October 29 to deliver a sermon at the Hafiz Ahmed School.

He will then be heading to Addu City on October 30, to deliver a sermon at the Addu City Square.

On October 31, Menk will return to the capital for his sermon at Hulhumalé Synthetic Track.

All of the sermons will be delivered on an array of topics, at 8:45pm, revealed the ministry.

Those who are unable to join the sermons can watch them live through the TV or listen to them on the radio or social media.

Menk’s last visit to the archipelago nation was in 2020. He previously visited in 2015 and 2016 as well.

The Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre of Jordan dubbed the renowned Muslim scholar one of the 500 most influential Muslims across the globe in 2014 and in 2017.
