Several bottles of alcohol held in police custody and confiscated during different operations conducted by the police stationed at Villingili island of Gaaf Alif atoll, have been destroyed.
The police institution revealed that the hefty amount of alcohol were destroyed at the Villingili Police Station on October 24.
Destroyed were 193 alcohol bottles and 41 cans of beer that were confiscated from tourists who arrived at Kooddoo Airport for departure between September 14 – October 18.
The bottles were confiscated by officers of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).
The institution revealed that the bottles were destroyed under the supervision of the relevant police team and under the set legal procedure for it.
