Confident that Maldives-China ties will prosper under Wang Yi’s able leadership: FM

Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has congratulated his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi on his appointment to the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China.

In a congratulatory message sent to State Councilor and Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China, Wang Yi late Sunday, FM Shahid revealed that the government and the people of Maldives joins him in conveying warmest congratulations and best wishes on the Chinese Foreign Minister’s appointment as a member of the 20th Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China.

Following the Maldivian foreign minister’s congratulatory message, Ambassador of China to Maldives Wang Lixin expressed gratitude and keen interest to a “much brighter” future of bilateral ties between Maldives and China, with the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries on the historic occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

Wang Yi was appointed as a member of the 20th Political Bureau of CPC during the recently held National Congress in China.

Expressing his confidence that under Wang Yi’s “able” leadership as Foreign Minister, the Maldives and China will continue to enjoy “excellent” bilateral ties, FM Shahid expressed hope to elevate future cooperation as well as to strengthen the bonds of friendship between Maldives and China, further.

With this, he offered the assurances of his highest consideration.
