93 percent of the stormwater pipe installation work under the second phase of the road construction project in Fonadhoo island of Laamu atoll, has been completed.
Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) revealed that currently, the installation work for the settlement tank is ongoing.
They went on to reveal that 93 percent of the work to install a stormwater pipe has been completed.
Further, the work to construct a sidewalk has also reached 53 percent.
Under the scope of the project, MTCC is required to construct a carriageway measuring 27,179 square meters, install a pavement measuring 10,392 square meters as well as a stormwater management system.
MTCC is also required to make road markings and install streetlights under the project.
The project is valued at MVR 53.9 million and was contracted to MTCC on 20 January 2021.
The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure contracted the project to be completed within 390 days.
The agreement was signed by MTCC’s CEO Adam Azim and Director General at the ministry, Fathimath Shaana Farooq.
