Dr. Abdulla Waheed, one of the first operation doctors in the Maldives, has passed away.
Dr. Abdulla Waheed made significant contributions to the country’ health sector in his time and also served in several other positions of the government for a long time.
He passed away while receiving treatment for pneumonia at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), on Tuesday morning.
Dr. Waheed was aged 65 at the time he succumbed to complications from pneumonia.
Other positions Dr. Waheed filled alongside State Minister at the Ministry of Health include IGMH’s Director General of Health Service, where he served for six years.
In addition to his services to the health sector, including as a sought after surgeon, Dr. Waheed also served as the President of the Police Integrity Commission.
