The Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to Japan has presented credentials to the Emperor of Japan.
Ambassador Hassan Sobir presented his Letters of Credence to the Emperor of Japan, Naruhito as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Maldives to Japan.
The ceremony was held at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo on September 7.
The formal ceremony saw the emperor welcoming Ambassador Sobir and congratulating him on his appointment.
Conveying warm greetings and good wishes from President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and the people of the country to Emperor Naruhito, Ambassador Sobir expressed assurances of his commitment to further enhance the long-standing bilateral relations between Maldives and Japan.
The ceremony was joined by Minister–Counsellor Mohamed Ameeth Ahmed Manik and First Secretary at the Maldives Embassy in Japan, Shafraz Rasheed.
President Solih appointed Hassan Sobir as the Ambassador of Maldives to Japan on May 30.
Before the appointment, Hassan Sobir served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Maldives to the Kingdom of Belgium and as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Head of Mission of the Republic of the Maldives to the EU.
