Dhiraagu and Bike Maldives has announced Mamen Inter-School Cycling Championship 2022

Dhiraagu, together with Bike Maldives, the official Bicycle Association of the Maldives, has announced the return of the Mamen Inter-School Cycling Championship after 2 years of break due to Covid-19 pandemic.

This is the third edition of the Inter-School Cycling Championship, which was previously held in 2018 and 2019.

At a special press conference held at Dhiraagu Head Office to launch the event, Assistant Manager Brand, Naiya Shareef stated, that the company is delighted to support Bike Maldives as a development partner in carrying out this event. She stated that Dhiraagu hopes to foster an interest of cycling amongst school children while promoting the importance of a healthy, sustainable lifestyle from a young age.

President of Bike Maldives, Zulaikha Hasan Didi stated that they get many opportunities to participate in international-level games and competitions as a member of the International Cycling Union (UCI). She however noted that they want to create and train top cyclists who can utilise these chances and represent Maldives abroad with this tournament.

Zulaikha expressed gratitude to Dhiraagu for their continuous support in contributing towards the development of Maldives’ cycling.

This year, the tournament will take place on 17 September 2022 at the Cycling Track in Hulhumale’ Phase 2. Registrations are now open for the tournament and will close on 8 September 2022.

All school children are eligible to participate in this tournament. Students can register online through a Google form, which will be provided to them via their respective schools and also circulated through the Dhiraagu and Bike Maldives’ social media handles.

10 events will take place during the one-day tournament.

Three male and female winners will be chosen from each competitive category, excluding the 1K Fun Ride.

Dhiraagu states that the company remains committed to supporting and organising events that contribute positively to the environment, promotes community engagement, and enhances the experiences of school children.
