Maldives Customs Service has seized narcotics being smuggled into the Maldives through the Post Office.
The department revealed that the narcotics were confiscated on August 25.
As such, officials scanned the packages that arrived through post on August 25 and found the narcotics stuffed inside a package.
The confiscated drugs weigh a total of 1.674 kilograms, with the inclusion of the packing.
Customs revealed that the drugs being smuggled via post, are expected to carry a black market price of MVR five million.
The packages scanned were imported from Germany.
Four packets were found to be stuffed with suspected narcotics and in the first stage of investigations, customs officials found that the substances found in two out of the four packets tested positive to Ketamine.
The remaining two packets were stuffed with substances that tested positive to cocaine.
The individual suspected to be linked to the smuggling attempt has since been handed over to the Maldives Police Service (MPS) for further investigations, alongside the confiscated drugs.
Customs had recently cracked down on a drug smuggling case worth MVR one million.
The drug bust was on June 29.
